We bought a new chest freezer to replace one that was 46 years old. I understand that appliances are not made "like they used to be", but a flimsy lid that doesn't seem to seal correctly (frost started appearing within 24 hours after plugging the unit in) certainly was not what we expected.Having to keep an eye on the frost accumulation and having to call the appliance dealer back to report, and then having to "see" if they can come up with a solution, is pretty inconvenient, considering the amount of $$ we paid and we were told that new models would be coming from China and would be inferior to what we were purchasing.

We bought this freezer after our 45+ year freezer quit. We needed a specific size for our space and this fit! Great size, quiet running. Only complaint is the top of the freezer is a bit flimsy. It™™s flexible, so I worry that it will not close properly. Our previous freezer had a very sturdy top. So far no problems.

We have been using our freezer for 4 months and it has worked great so far. We have had only a very little amount of frost buildup, less than a quarter inch thick and only 2 inches wide near the top of the walls and the rest is frost free.

Decided to go with a chest style freezer, after 20 years with an upright. What a difference. Great storage and the new technology is a huge upgrade. I should have made this upgrade years ago. Very happy with the performance and it really keeps our ice cream frozen.

Our 1961 freezer died and we replaced it with this newer model about a month ago. The lid does not seem to seal well and it™™s extremely light. As a result, due to the seal not being tight, it has already started building up frost. Very disappointing. We could go years and not defrost the other one. This looks like it is going to be an every six-month process now. Time will tell. We checked out the reviews on this freezer and did not try to buy the cheapest one, so we hope that we experience what most others did.

I needed to upgrade from a 12 cu/ft and chose this one after doing some research on the Home Depot website and a popular consumer magazine. The only detractor from it is I am not a fan of how light the top is. I had to loosen the tension on the hinges quite a bit get it to close to my satisfaction. Other than wanting a bit heavier top, I really like the freezer. The light is excellent and the two baskets are not flimsy at all. They slide well side to side and I especially like the fact I can buy several different styles of baskets for it which I plan to do shortly.

My old freezer was in the process of failing. So... we looked in the stores where we live at the freezers for sale and decided to replace our old freezer with the new Frigidaire. I really like the light feature, makes it so much easier to find what you are looking for. I would highly recommend it to my friend.

It would be nice if it came with another basket. Or dividers for the bottom. Had to set something on the lid for the first week to get the door to stay sealed as the hinge brings softened up some. And that was after udjusting the hinges. Had it for a couple of months now and it works great. I would buy it again.
