I cant lie. We ALMOST always buy GE. We have cheated a couple of times, but GE has never let us down. Four children and seven grandchildren, we are always cooking and baking.

So far, we are loving our new cooktop! The flame on the burners is very even and controllable. The grates are way less heavy than our old one, which makes it much easier to clean up underneath. Only used it a week - wish I could make another review in a year!

The cooktop is very striaght-forward, and quite reliable so far--1.5 mos. Looks fine. My only complaint, is that the controls are not as closely attuned to flame height as my last cook top. Pro-tip: rather than set it at med-high based on knob positon, look at the flame instead to determine the right position.

This looked like a good product to replace my old cooktop that had seen better days. I had previously purchased a GE Overhead Microwave and GE Refrigerator in Slate and they are both great products. I'm working on replacing my double wall oven once it goes kaput with a GE wall oven, also in Slate. Love the color and love the GE appliances I've purchased so far.

Overall the product (4 burner Natural Gas Cooktop in Black) is good. The install was easy and the unit fit nearly perfect into an existing cut-out from a previous unit. There were just a few small things that would have lead me give the item 5 stars. 1 - There is not any gasket/seal material around the edge of the unit where it sits on the counter. 2- The cast iron grates , while designed to be light and easy to lift, appear a bit thin/weak for large heavy pots, as they bend slightly. 3 - Once the burner is ignited, there is little to no difference is flame size from the "High" setting all the way down to the "Medium" setting medium. However, the burners can be adjusted. 4- Just like the previous unit (from another manufacturer) the gas control knobs for the burners are made of thin plastic with metal inserts within the stem. These stems tend to break / crack after some use. Last time I needed to add/bond some metal washers that fit snugly around the outside of the stem to repair and keep it from cracking again - will see if this is a problem as we use the unit.

We've been using the cooktop for two months now and so for its working fine. Cooktops are simple devices and we expect that this one will last a long time. It seems sturdy and well put together. Only complaint was that about 4 sheet metal screws protruded from the bottom about 1/4 inch. In most installations that would be trivial but ours is above an oven and that extra 1/4 inch was a problem. I had to cut the screw ends off with a hacksaw. No big deal, but different screws should have been used during assembly.

This black porcelain cooktop cleans up so much easier than my old stainless steel one and I like that it has a shiny finish that keeps it looking brand new. The burners are the perfect size for my pans at home. So far, I™™m extremely happy with this cooktop.

Product just installed as replacement of an old GE very similar product (4 burners). Installation went pretty smooth, the dimension was same as previous appliance which helped. The side pre-drilled hole to fix teh brackets are not well indicated and doesn't allow to tight teh bracket in place. Is it on purpose ? Don't know and manual doesn't mention if it is a feature or a defect.
Haven't use teh product yet, only connected and waiting for the piping sealant to dry. The 3/8™ NPT male pipe thread connected to the cooktop is longer than on old model which is something people should be aware as this can be problematic when you have drawers underneath (like me).
So far product is good and correspond to the specification.

Replaced a 20 year old GE Profile Gas Cooktop that just didn't want to light properly and we just couldn't clean anymore. I think it took about a half hour for me to install it including removing the old one. My wife loves it!

We bought this cooktop to replace an older GE Profile cooktop. We had a problem with one of the burners lighting on the old cooktop, and while the fix was simply to replace the wiring harness, that part was no longer available. This new cooktop was the only one we could find to fit our cabinetry. (Although this is a standard 30" cooktop, it fits in an unusually narrow cutout.) The cooktop works great! Our only complaint is that the surfaces of the grates and the tops of the burners are somewhat rough, so they pick up lint or sponge particles when you clean them. We got the black model, and a very minor disappointment is that it doesn't look as high-end as the pictures - most of the cooktop is a shiny smooth black surface with control information printed directly on the surface in white. All in all, we are very happy with this cooktop, a good value for the price.

This is a good product with the different sizes of the burners for our family. It is easy to maintain and love the fact that the grid can be washed in the dishwasher.
Unfortunately one of the burner knobs are stuck and not able to turn after 4 months of use.

Great product. Make sure you get the model and serial numbers from underneath the cooktop BEFORE it™™s installed. The Home Depot pro did not do this and I had to get someone else to remove the appliance to get this information in order to register the product.
