Lousy service, terrible refrigerator

I bought this refrigerator in Dec 2024. From the get go, I had problems where the refrigerator would warm up and freezer would completely thaw. It was an inconsistent pattern. So today it might be fine, tomorrow maybe not. The service to repair it was pretty bad as technician typically could come for 5-7 days. By the time they came, it was working and the tech would tell me the data was no longer available to vertify the problem. So they saw nothing wrong. Finally, they replaced a valve and it seemed like the problem was solved. But not so, it has started again with GE saying it is out of warranty now. I simply cannot imagine treating customers this way for the appliance that was defective from the get go.

This refrigerator replaced a 22 year old Artica GE Side by Side. I had kept the Artica going for all these years, but got tired of the defrost heater burning out what I consider to be too often? I purchased OEM one's, but the last one lasted about 14 months and it was a GE one. Don't know why they don't last any better? Anyway said goodbye to the old girl that served us pretty well for those 22 years. The ice maker had failed and had developed an internal leak I could not find and fix, so we lived without that for several of it's last years. Now, this new one is HUGE at 28.3 The old one was about 25 cu. ft. Actually, I hated the dark tunnel of the Artica Side by Side. Could not find things back in there! This new one is great from that standpoint with the lighted back panel, you can see everything in there. Like the convertible part and the drawers in the freezer section. I've read that the ice makers in GE refrigerators are troublesome compared to other brands? I hope it is trouble free, but all of that is unknown just after purchase and setup. The old Artica was built like a tank. The shelving was sturdy. This new one has shelving and door trays that are a bit less robust. I hope they stand up as well as the old Profile Artica? Whether I can get 22 years out of this new one is debatable, but at my age, if I get 10, I probably won't really care........................

Our refrigerator was delivered with some defects. There is dent on the inside bottom on the top refrigerator section. There are also multiple scratches on the door shelves. The bottom freezer on the left side is now making a loud grinding noise when opening and closing.

I purchased this GE Profile refrigerator (Model # PAD28BYTCFS), expecting a premium appliance that could support a family of six. Instead, the unit suffered a total compressor failure exactly one year after delivery. ™The Reality of Ownership: ™Reliability: The unit is essentially a "one-year appliance." A $4,500 machine should not require a total rebuild (compressor and boards) at the 12-month mark. ™Service Latency: My family has been without a refrigerator for over 35 days. GE™™s service arm (Bodewell) struggled with an initial misdiagnosis, which added weeks to the repair timeline. ™Support Failure: Even after escalating to the Executive Office, there was no attempt to expedite the repair or provide a replacement. ™Bottom Line: While the features look great on the showroom floor, the post-purchase support and product longevity are non-existent. If you have a large family that relies on a functioning kitchen, I cannot recommend this model or GE as a brand.

I™™ve own d this refrigerator for short of 2 years now, and nearly every aspect of this product and issues has been the worst (I own rental properties so I purchase quite a few appliances a year). In July 1 my refrigerator stopped cooling, we were told that it was a known issue with the closed compartment coolant for the models made during a certain time period and due to that, it was covered under warranty, however the parts had to be shipped in. Bodewell FINALLY came out and made the refrigerator operational on August 4th (5weeks). On December 28th, only 4.5 months after the repair, the refrigerator stops cooling again. I™™m told that Bodewell can come out on January 2nd to fix the issue. A Bodewell technician arrives and tells me that the wiring from the electrical board wasn™™t plugged in all of the way and ™fixes™™ it. The refrigerator cools for 4 hours, then once again stops. I reach back out to GE, and they set up another te Unicom to come out on January 8th. At this point in time, GE, Bodewell, customer service, multiple technicians and others just keep passing the blame on to another department in the process. I was without an operational refrigerator for 5 weeks over the summer and now going on 11 days, I am being told that this current issue could in no way be related to the warrantied issue from 4 months ago and as such is not covered, so I will be charged $115 + parts for each time a technician arrives at my house (even if the service last time was only days ago, the tech claimed it was ™fixed). In short, the refrigerator is not working after less than 2 years. GE is not standing behind the product GE appliance (Bodewell) repair hasn™™t ™™repaired™™ anything Customer service, although kind to speak with, hasn™™t actually moved anything forward in a productive way through this extensively long and frustrating process.

Awful! Constant temperature dropping issues

Constant temperature issues causing food spoilage and wasted money buying replacement food!! The lower right quadrant goes up to 70 degrees randomly spoiling ALL the food and wasting our money. Other quadrants going too high in temp causing food to spoil and again wasting money - ice cream melted, frozen food spoiled! GE refusing to provide a replacement is absurd given the amount of money and time invested at this point over two months of having this issue. Delivered direct from GE website and paid a ton of money - have to take time off work for repairmen to come try to fix and order parts is not fair or compensating me for my lost time or food spoiled I had to rebuy. It™™s been TWO months and I™™m expected to just go without a fridge/freezer! Customer service had the nerve to say they™™d give me a discount on buying another new fridge with them instead of them giving me a fridge that works which is what I paid for. DO NOT BUY THIS GE FRIDGE. And really I would say that GE customer service policies are terrible because if GE cannot repair a new fridge within a month of purchase, the customer should absolutely get exchange at that point!! Unbelievable.

I am loving my new quad door fridge so far! It has so much room that I didn™™t even need my spare garage fridge on Thanksgiving. The indoor water pitcher is neat and keeps the outside of the fridge clean. I wasn™™t sure about the drawers for the freezer at first but love how spacious even are. Everything stays nice and organized. Love that you can switch the right side of the freezer to be either a freezer, fridge or cooler. I™™ve only had it for 3 weeks so let™™s hope it holds up over time

I love this refrigerator. However, I would never purchase another GE product. Their customer service is horrible. Then to be able to speak with a supervisor, good luck. And they do not return calls as promised. Bad company to deal with! I hope I have better luck with this new refrigerator than the last one that took GE 6 months to replace, I lost all my frozen food in the freezer 5 times. All the service tech would do is throw parts at it until there are no more parts to replace and that is exactly what happened, but took 6-months of their lack of concern.

Think twice about buying a GE Profile refrigerator. Our freezer middle drawer and ice maker has not worked for over a month and it™™s still broken after multiple trips by the technician. Hours wasted waiting for service with no results. Today another box of parts arrived. Unreal! Do yourself a favor and look into other brands other than GE.

I™™ve only had this refrigerator for 24 hours, but so far it is great. I enjoy that I can customize the right bottom section of the refrigerator for either refrigerator freezer or just a store drinks. It™™s very spacious with a big capacity ice maker!

We had this delivered and installed yesterday. Temperature set to 37 for top fridge. 0 for the lower left freezer. 42 for the lower right. Opened the lower right door and everything including the wine was frozen. Kind of defeats the point. Unless my unit is defective?

So far, it seems great. We like the water dispenser set up and the lower placement of the ice maker. The freezer doors (as opposed to a drawer freezer) really works well for our space.

This refrigerator is the best when it comes to room in my opinion. The French doors make it so your not having to bend up and down while going in your refrigerator to grab something. The amount of space is perfect for storage. You have so much room to store whatever you wish. Those milk cartons that would not fit before or tall orange juice bottles they fit. The shelving in this is perfect for organizing and the temperature is consistent and keeps my goods right where they need to be at all times. I am very happy with my purchase.

This large fridge is very quiet and the layout makes it easy to see everything. The large storage drawers in the freezer, make it easy to get to all the food, plus I can organize different types of food together in the drawers. The temperature controls are a bit confusing. The full manual was not provided during delivery, so I had to look things up on the website, which wasn™™t easy. I accidentally thawed out half the freezer because I didn™™t know what section was the ™chiller.™ The water dispenser is more difficult to use because it™™s inside AND on the left side. The top portion of the fridge opens easier from the right because of the design. I prefer to have the water dispenser accessible from the outside of the fridge, so only one hand is needed. You almost need 3 hands to get water from the dispenser of the GE! The ice maker stops making ice prematurely unless you redistribute the ice in the drawer multiple times. For the price, I would expect a better design and functionality. If I bought this fridge, I would be exchanging it for one that is more efficiently designed and user friendly. This particular model could use some improvement.

This fridge is a replacement for a 10 year old Samsung that was the same capacity, but the Samsung had the ice in the upper refrigerator section. The ice maker not only cut into the space but also was terrible at icing over and jamming. The GE has the ice in the freezer with a MASSIVE ice bin that seems to hold a never ending quantity of ice, even with the ice maker off. The fridge and freezer keep everything colder than the Samsung, which is especially noticeable with drinks in the fridge and ice cream in the freezer. The Samsung left ice cream soft, even at -6F on the setting. With the GE at -5F for the freezer and convertible section, everything is frozen solid. I'd say a small improvement would be the shelving configuration, because the way the shelves hang on the bracket, you are very limited in vertical placement. The half sliding shelf is nice and opens up extra space, but it would be good if the shelf brackets has a finer adjustment. One last item that is surprisingly good is the auto fill pitcher for water. It's way easier to fill pots or large glasses instead of standing at the dispenser waiting for it to fill. You can also open the other side of the fridge while the pitcher fills. This is a much better design than a door dispenser that just gets water, ice and splashes everywhere. Plus there is a larger quantity of cold water available instead of just what is in the filter and line when you first start dispensing. We'll see how long this one lasts, but so far this fridge seems much more solid than other brands.

This is hands down the best and nicest fridge I™™ve ever owned. It is very spacious with enough room for everything you need. The drawers fold in in case you want to store something large. The drawers are also soft close so they™™re easy to operate and close quietly. The freezer section can be turned into additional fridge space, wine cooler or freezer. It™™s so spacious that it™™s perfect for a large family. I noticed it holds the temperature quite well and the temperature is easy to adjust. The fridge is super quiet, you do not hear it running at all. The labels do indicate that it™™s ever efficient which I do appreciate. One negative is that in order to slide open the freezer drawers, the freezer doors need to be opened wide so if you don™™t have the room to open the doors wide then that might be an issue, for me it™™s not a problem thus I didn™™t deduct a star for that. I would definitely recommend this fridge, it™™s beautiful, quiet and very spacious. The extra bonus is the removable water pitcher which I love.

Refrigerator has plenty of space. I like that you can change one side of the freezer to more fridge space if necessary. I also like how easy it is to turn off the ice maker by pushing one button. The doors are also very large and can hold a lot.

Aesthetically this is a beautiful fridge. The freezer on the bottom is very nice. The drawer concept of the freezer is nice but it would be nice to have some shelves too. Additionally it was very hard to get pizzas in the drawers. The bottom compartment capability to change the space from chiller to refrigerator or freezer is amazing. I felt like having the water filtration and ice inside is nice to create a clean outside look with smooth lines, but it does come at the expense of lost storage areas. I do feel that having to open the fridge all the time for getting water or ice is not very energy friendly and did note this model fares worse than comparable models via the attached energy report. The filter change location is easily identifiable and in 40 years, I finally understand the slide on the fruit/vegetable drawer as I see changing the slide to fruit allows air flow. Genius. I never thought those slides even made a difference or did anything. I have been getting used to the refrigerator drawers having the pull from the bottom. That will make dirty hand prints not as noticeable but it took me weeks to remember to pull from the bottom to open those drawers. It seems the LED back light is not a very good feature because opening the door it takes a while to brighten and you can really notice flickering when looking at the lighting through the camera of a phone. It is a pretty quiet fridge and I have received several compliments on it. My daughter was so thrilled that she had to do a video of filling it up with the items from our old fridge and showing the neat aspects of it. Overall I like it but it just doesn™™t seem as big as it claims to be. Maybe it is something with the setup. I feel like it holds about the same as our smaller fridge/freezer. I feel that with some tweaking of this model through the above mentioned issues, it could stand as a leader with all the bells and whistles that accompany it.
