I haven't even had this thing for two months & I am pretty sure the compressor has completely gone out without warning. I have a second one that's the 8300 model & it jumps real hard. I'm guessing both are going to have to be replaced. I've never really had an issue with GE products. I'm sure they'll replace this one but it's just going to be super inconvenient for my elderly parents as temperatures are reaching near 110 with heat index.

Super noisy!! Not ultra quiet. Growls for 1-2 minutes and vibrates over the whole room at startup. Heavy, but easy to install. Cools very well and quickly. Eco/Auto mode is very efficient.

Do not buy this not any other GE Appliances product. Mine lasted just 15 days before it died. I sent them an email about it immediately, but didn't even get any kind of acknowledgement that my email was received, so after waiting a day I tried to contact them via social media. I finally did receive assistance through Facebook, but after messaging back and forth for a week, and sending them all the information they requested, I was told that there was an active case connected to my original email. Of course, throughout the week I still didn't receive any contact from my email. Now I'm going to have to go through another four or five days of 100+ degree weather without any AC at all thanks to GE. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM GE!!!

The unit is very quiet and very efficient. The installation into the window was a little bit difficult due to not having good wedges included for my setup. The compressor occasionally makes the entire house vibrate as it turns on but then Smooths out. The filter can be a bit of a challenge to get to to change out or clean. The cooling is excellent and the airflow is very good as well. The Wi-Fi controls work very well through the app and the energy usage insights are wonderful though I don't know how accurate they are. The adjustable depth on it is great in the event that you have a thicker exterior wall

I purchased a GE Profile ClearView™ ENERGY STAR® 12,200 BTU Inverter Smart Ultra Quiet Window Air Conditioner for Large Rooms up to 550 sq. ft. (Model No. PHNT12CCH1) from Home Depot on 04/27/2026. It arrived the next day and was installed on 04/29/2026. The installation was easy, and if this were an installation review, I would have given it a high rating. The unit worked flawlessly, and per the SmartHQ App, used a consistently small amount of energy (0.3 to 5.0 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per day) to cool an insulated, 336 sq. ft. shed for almost two months. Then from 6/25 through 6/30, the SmartHQ App recorded a nearly linear increase in energy usage (4.1 to 5.7 to 7.3 to 9.4 to 6.0 (shut off for a while to clean filters and to see if unit needed a reset) to 9.7 (image provided)) while the high temperatures outside remained consistent (91, 90, 91, 92, 93 & 93 deg F per the local weather service). The increase in energy usage coincided with a noticeable inability to keep the space cool. Since Page 21 of GE™™s Owner™™s Manual & Installation Instructions (49-5000765 Rev. 2 08-24) says to return the product to the retail location where it was purchased if still within the retailer™™s allowable return window, I first reached out to Home Depot for guidance. Home Depot said that their return period for this item was just seven (7) days and that I would need to contact the manufacturer for further assistance. So, after an online chat with GE, I put in a service ticket via Bodewell and was visited by a contracted technician on 07/06/2026. After a few days of questioning the contracted service provider about the status of the claim, I was notified that a report had been sent to GE/Bodewell for review and to contact them directly for further information. On 07/10/2026, I spoke with a very polite GE representative who said that their engineer™™s review had determined that the unit™™s exterior condenser coil had been damaged by the owner/installer (a.k.a. me) during installation, and as such, the unit was no longer protected by GE™™s One Year Warranty. When I asked to be connected to the reviewing engineer(s), she said that they did not speak with customers and that she would be my designated person for this claim. When I told the rep that I had noticed a few laid over fins on the condenser coil upon receiving the unit, her response was that the unit should have been immediately returned to the retailer instead of being installed. To be honest, I have never seen a new evaporator or condenser coil arrive without noting at least a few of those paper-thin fins being laid over and never gave it a second thought (lesson learned). Photographs of the condenser coil are attached, and in my opinion, the ™damage™ doesn™™t look bad enough to have voided the unit™™s warranty. Also, it™™s worth noting that the unit is not provided with a grille to protect the condenser coil, and considering the claim process and resulting conversations, I think that adding a grille would have been considered a customer modification that would have also voided the warranty. When I asked the GE rep how an AC unit damaged during installation managed to perform flawlessly for nearly two months, she said that the best she could do was to forward my inquiry to the engineers and that it would take approximately ten (10) business days for a reply. Since my expectations for a favorable resolution are low and the shed gets really hot without AC, I am going to start shopping for a replacement window unit ™ probably from another manufacturer ™ ASAP. I have a 6-year-old portable air conditioner from a different manufacturer that has suffered all kinds of abuse including multiple trips in all kinds of weather in the bed of a pickup truck, being dropped, and long-term storage (sometimes on its side). That unit must be tough because it just keeps on ticking, but unfortunately it is really small and doesn™™t have the BTU rating needed to even begin cooling the space. Maybe that other manufacturer makes a window unit suitable for this application.

GE Is completely customer blind. Then they mock you by telling you to check the filter on a brand new unit?!?! This 12kBtu has rattled since day one. most of the time its not an issue in a living room. however the temperature sensing in auto continues to set off when the room 8-10 degrees hotter than set. the unit will read 68 but the room is 73 right now. then at random, it will jut hang up and never turn the fans off...in eco mode, not cooling(cool room) but still humming away the fan. they have made one software update to my 2 year old unit and I have no idea what it did because it didn't fix my major issue, I have the smaller non inverter also, it clunks at start up but cools very nicely... but has the same temperature control problem.

The one minor thing is the temperature of ambient in the app is either off by three degrees or more or it waits to long to update the temperature. That could be corrected maybe with updates. Outside noise passes throw the small tunnel from inside to outside link, It should be sound proof. My house is on a big road with traffic noise. It is difficult to prevent traffic noise with this tunnel in GE profile open to outside noise.

And of course, it probably won™™t be covered by warranty as there™™s no techs in my area according to bodewell. I just installed this unit and it was simple and secure. There is a very helpful installation video on YouTube. The main thing I wanted was a quiet air conditioner and this is extremely quiet. I like the low profile design for safety and keeping the view open. I have not used the smart features and probably won™™t because I don™™t have a need at this point.

We bought this unit from Best Buy. Part of the box was damaged but styrofoam was intact and unit looked in perfect condition. We let the unit sit for 48 hours just in case it had been tilted or stored improperly from store. We installed and the unit has been running for days and does not blow cold air at all. We do not hear the compressor kick on either. I plan to contact GE and will do an update.

I purchased the 12,200 BUT unit almost a month ago and haven't even been able to use it yet. The following week I unpacked the unit, thoroughly read the instructions, and began the process of setting up for installation. Using a hand screwdriver, I started removing the screws to adjust the width so that it would fit over my windowsill. 3 of the screws came out fine, the 4th - the head stripped on the first turn. No problem, I grab a rubber band. No luck. Try the hammer trick. Still no luck. Grab my trusty screw extractor. Even hand turning it stripped the new threads. No dremel to add a slot for a flathead, so I decide to just drill it out. The threads are just under 9/16" wide, so I try that first. No luck. Try the 1/4". Still no luck. I have my son in law come over - he can't get it out either. At this point I have drilled a 1/4" wide, 3/8" deep hole into this thing and it still will not budge. Now, I'm just out of my 30 days, so I essentially have a nearly $600 block of scrap taking up space on my living room floor. I can't review the actual performance of the unit, but if a nearly 50 year old woman with arthritis can strip the screw heads by hand, I'm not sure how much faith I have in this AC to do anything. Total waste of money.

Fairly easy to install. The directions are a bit vague in some respects, so we watched YouTube videos for a better understanding, which really helped to make things easier. We plan on installing one more of these in our home, so once you do it, the next time will go much faster and easier, of course. The unit is sleek and good looking. The operation is straight forward and easy to use. The noise level is quieter than our floor fans, so very happy with that. Looking forward to the energy savings aspect of this product, as HVAC was a huge drain on the budget, for sure. Our home is 1000 sq feet. We installed this unit in the living room on one end of the house. So far, this unit cools about 600 sq ft quickly and easy. The second unit will be going in the bedroom area at the other end of our house. So looking forward to seeing how these 2 units work together! To be honest, living in central Florida means we run fans almost all the time. This should help with any circulation issues that may arise from the room configuration of our house. We are using the remote which is really handy, but have not tried the app smart feature yet. But it seems interesting and we look forward to exploring that. Overall, so far, we are extremely happy with this unit! 1000+ stars!

I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about except for maybe what I encountered.. I either read the instructions wrong or didn't understand that I needed to add the piece of phone in between the wall and the unit.. The unit snugged right up without the foam.. But the compressor resonated through the walls making this unit super loud.. I just installed the piece of foam 5 minutes ago.. The unit no longer makes that noise.. This unit is really super nice.. and super quiet.. controlled by your cell phone and the thing will control itself.. This is a very nice unit and well worth the money!!!

we are loving the unit... it replaced a midea ushaped in window unit of similar size. We liked the midea, and had the opportunity to return it under warranty due to their mold issue. We were going to replace with another midea, but in researching found this one which is just a better design. Also U shaped, but with the u going down instead of up. Three major advantages to this: you get more window space when unit is in place, MUCH easier to install, and you have the ability to more easily open your window when you want to. We found that the unit had similar sound benefit to the u shaped style, with most noisy part of the conditioner outside of the room (so pretty quiet) Very happy with purchase, and would recommend for those considering window mounted units.

The unit is very good and very quiet. There is one feature I don't like and that is the side water filter. It is in the house and I have to manually open and drain it every two days. Its messy. Now, I have a problem with it because I inadvertently replaced the inner piece incorrectly and now cannot remove it at all. The outer cap leaks onto the floor. Why put that filter inside?

Can™™t believe how quiet it operates even on high. Replaces a 2 yr old portable unit of same 12,000 btu no comparison I have mine one enclosed sun porch 14x17™™ with 11 foot ceiling hold set temperature without issue again every quiet.

At first, I was afraid it sat to low below the window. However, because the air vents are up on top of the unit, the air flow was perfect. The room was cooled very fast and efficient without blowing across our dinning table. Very happy with this design.

The Air conditioner is very Noise

I purchased this unit hoping for cool relief, but instead I got a roaring beast in my Office. The noise level is absolutely unacceptable™"it doesn™™t hum, it doesn™™t purr, it roughs like a lion. Every time it kicks on, it sounds like it™™s preparing for takeoff. Sleep? Impossible. Conversations? Interrupted. Peace and quiet? Extinct.

Easy installation

Installation was a breeze. The unit is quiet and cools well. I had a problem with the controls as I thought I was turning it on when all I was doing was waking the lights on the control panel. Once I figured that out it started working well. This is the only window air conditioner that I could find that puts the condensation outside. This is very important as we would like to run the unit while we™™re gone.

The controls on the ac are not easy to read but simple.Might be better in contrasting color other than white.The cooling worked well for a large bedroom.Installation was pretty easy and instructions were easy to follow.The noise level was very good.

This is a great upgrade from our old GE air conditioning unit that worked well for meny years but was very loud. This unit is so much quieter and cools better not to mention it gives back the window view. Installation was simple to do and didn™™t take long. As for efficiency to soon to tell has only been installed for one week.

The unit took the recommended hour to install. The controls are extremely easy to use, it cools very well, is very quiet (except from some sill vibration...GE can't help that) and appears to be super energy efficient. The only reason for not getting five stars was it appears this may have been a refurbished unit, there were dead bugs on the bottom of the packaging and on the bottom of the inside of the unit in the back. There was also a bracket on the inside back portion that shows sign of rust. I don't have the energy to pursue as the unit is essentially running fine.

Doesn™™t really cool my bedroom like it should and it™™s not a big room!!!! I™™m really disappointed in the product. I also don™™t see an option to turn the temperature below 64. I like it on 60 or so. I do like the shape and that I don™™t have to have my window wide open.
