Good appliance, poor manual

I bought this as part of my retirement gift to me. This is the first time my appliances match. Overall the stove works well, but wish the instruction book was better. when I couldn't get the broiler to work. I called for assistance and a repair person arrived and quickly noted there were too many things in storage drawer. Removed one pan and it now works great. Feel this could easily have been addressed with the book or call. One front burner had trouble igniting. The repair person simply turned the cap and if now works fabulously. I was concerned the low flame was too high, it was adjusted slightly, but was informed that simmer should be used on back burners. Again, these could have been addressed in the instruction manual. Other than these hiccups, the stove works very well and I love it.

Have to get used to it. It is more efficient, cooks evenly and is easy to use. Have to be careful that the knobs are off. Never had a full cooktop. It allows for less area to put spatulas and spoons while your cooking.

One flaw

Twice-just after the warranty period-the oven stopped working. The burner wouldn't light. The first tech sanded the tip of the oven igniter, and all was well-for a few months. Then, the same thing happened again. No flame. The second tech found the real problem with the igniter. There wasn't one. The reason why the igniter wouldn't light was because we had too many cooking trays-broiler pan, cookie sheets, etc., in the drawer under the oven. The drawer shut fine, but the topmost metal cookie sheet made contact with the igniter/wiring connection, thus shorting out the igniter. Once the last pan was removed-just by chance-the cause of the short was eliminated, and the oven worked fine. This is a design flaw that can cost the consumer money for expensive service calls, as well as expensive parts not needed (if the tech doesn't know about this flaw). The fix is, either tell the consumer not to stack items above the rather shallow drawer pan. Or, ideally, Whirlpool should provide a protective barrier where the wiring and igniter join.

The burners needs to be further apart.

Very pleased with the preheat time, my previous range took forever to heat up! Also the frozen bake technology works pretty well, although it does take a few minutes longer with the frozen pizzas I've baked.

This range was a perfect addition to my other Whirlpool kitchen appliances. I especially like the grates, which are good quality. The different size burners easily accommodate my different size pots and pans. The storage drawer at the bottom is awesome for extra storage.

Beautiful Stove

I have had the stove for over a month now and am using it regularly. I only have a couple concerns; cleaning the top and I would like it if the front burners "low" was a little lower heat. The top is very functional but to clean it you have to remove the very heavy grates. The stove top and oven are working great.
